A singular painter to rediscover.
A self-taught painter, Yan’ Dargent enjoyed a certain celebrity during his lifetime. His famous Lavandières de la Nuit were noticed by Théophile Gautier. A prolific and sought-after illustrator, he contributed to some two hundred books. His religious paintings earned him numerous commissions. A singular painter, deeply attached to his native Brittany, Yan’ Dargent deserves full recognition today.

Since 1989, the Association des Amis du Musée Yan’ Dargent has been enriching the collections of the Musée Yan’ Dargent. It preserves, restores, studies and promotes them. It promotes research and the dissemination of knowledge about Yan’ Dargent. All this, thanks to the work of its volunteers and the financial support of its members.
