To mark the bicentenary of Yan’ Dargent’s birth, a number of events are on offer this summer in Saint-Servais.

SATURDAY JUNE 22 at 7pm, Concert by A Cappello, at the church.

FREE ENTRY, participation by hat.

A vocal ensemble made up of some twenty choristers motivated by a repertoire consisting mainly of classical works from the Renaissance to contemporary music.

 

SATURDAY JUNE 29 at 5pm, Les Lavandières de la Nuit reading.

FREE ENTRY, all audiences.

Jean Hirrien reads his adaptation of Émile Souvestre’s tale Les Lavandières de la Nuit. The story is set in the hamlets of Saint-Servais and the surrounding countryside.

 

SUNDAY JUNE 30 at 6pm, Concert by Duo Aliquot at the church.

FREE ENTRY, participation by the hat, in aid of the Yan’ Dargent Museum.

Simona and Gheorghe Balan (violas d’amore) perform works by François Couperin, Luigi Borghi, Anonymus Bohemicus, Jan Kral and Hans Vermeersch.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 6

10am – Breton-language tour of the Yan’ Dargent Museum and parish enclosure, by Ronan Hirrien, president of the Friends of the Yan’ Dargent Museum association.

3pm – Lecture “La mise en image de la Divine Comédie de Dante par Yan’ Dargent (1879)” by Claire Lesage, lecturer at Rennes 2 University, ANR DHAF, CELLAM.

6pm – Show La Bretagne à Braz Ouverts, €10, reduced rate on presentation of proof.
A tale that blends Breton oral tradition and Baroque music. Storyteller Achille Grimaud and musician Aldo Ripoche, who plays a 1764 viol for this show, bring to life Anatole Le Braz’s tales and sketches of Brittany. This universe is close to that of Yan’ Dargent. For all ages 7 and up.

Meetings with Serge Marzin: presentation of his work and discussions about engraving:

Discovery workshop and introduction to engraving: drypoint technique on Renalon (Plexiglas) duration 3h

  • Parent-child session Wednesday 10/07 at 9am:
    4 pairs working individually on the same model, creative sharing!
    Ages 5 and up, registration €25 per pair.
  • Children’s session Friday 19/07 at 9am:
    6 to 8 children aged 5 and over, free of charge.
  • Adult session Friday 09/08 at 9am:
    6 to 8 people, €25 per person.

WEDNESDAY JULY 10 at 2pm, Orienteering race for teens, 2-hour circuit.
Groups of 3, ages 10 and up (9 if accompanied by a parent), with one telephone per group. Each group will receive a starting kit (map, compass, water and brioche). Registration and information by e-mail animationstservais@gmail.com or on site from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm.

 

SUNDAY, JULY 14 at 11:30 am, discover the sacred art of Yan’ Dargent.
Following the Pardon celebration, Ronan Hirrien offers a commentary on Yan’ Dargent’s sacred art in the parish enclosure and museum.

FRIDAY JULY 26 at 6pm, musical storytelling with Awenn Plougoulm, in the village.

FREE ENTRY, participation by hat.

Discover the world of Yan’ Dargent, and his Lavandières de la nuit in particular, through storytelling and song. A dreamlike creation that will enchant young and old alike.

 

THURSDAY AUGUST 1 at 7pm, concert by harpist Nolwenn Arzel, at the church.

FREE ENTRY, participation by hat.

Nolwenn Arzel is one of Brittany’s leading figures on the Celtic harp.
