L’ASSOCIATION DES AMIS DU MUSÉE YAN’ DARGENT – AMY’D: A THRIVING BUSINESS
The creation of the Association des Amis du Musée Yan’ Dargent is inextricably linked with the personality of Jean Berthou. Since the death of its founder in December 2022, the association has continued its activities with great vitality. This is borne out by the various events surrounding the bicentenary of Yan’ Dargent’s birth in 2024 and the new museum project.
A fervent admirer and defender of Yan’ Dargent’s work, Jean Berthou was indeed behind the creation of the museum in 1991 and the association in charge of running it. He has done a remarkable job of enriching the museum’s collections and promoting Yan’ Dargent’s work through publications and conferences. Captivating and engaging, he has demonstrated a tireless passion for presenting the museum’s collections and exhibitions to visitors.
Today, with over fifty active, paid-up members, the Friends of the Yan’ Dargent Museum brings together people from a wide range of geographical and socio-professional backgrounds.
Following the death of Jean Berthou in December 2022, a new team took over the management and development of the museum in the spring of 2023. Under the leadership of Ronan Hirrien, its president, the Association des Amis du Musée Yan’ Dargent aims to give the site the dimension and renown it deserves.
The association is able to carry out its projects thanks to the active support of its members and donors, as well as the ongoing participation of the municipality of Saint-Servais. In consultation with the municipality and the DRAC Bretagne, a project to install a new museum dedicated to Yan’ Dargent in the former presbytery is currently under study.
The Association of Friends of the Yan’ Dargent Museum is a non-profit organization authorized to issue tax receipts for donations.
